Silicone vs. Saline vs. Self
Choosing the appropriate breast implant is a process specific to each individual patient. - Saline implants have a long history of success in breast augmentation. During surgery, Dr. Villanustre inserts an empty implant beneath the breast tissue, and then fills it with saline (a sterile saltwater solution). This means that the size of your saline implant can be easily customized once it’s in place.
- Silicone implants tend to offer a more natural feel compared to saline implants. While their volume can’t be adjusted during surgery, silicone implants come in a wide variety of sizes, and Dr. Villanustre will consult with you to help determine the silicone implant that will work best.
- Some women can have their breast size increased by using their own breast tissue in a procedure developed by world-renowned plastic surgeon (and Hollywood favorite) Ivo Pitangy, MD. Dr. Villanustre trained in Brazil at the Ivo Pitangy Clinic with Dr. Pitangy himself.
